DIAFA Festival 8th edition: A Celebration of Art, Poetry, and Humanity
Dubai, embracing the world, welcomed the 8th edition of the DIAFA festival on November 26 and 27, 2024, in front of the emblematic landmark, Museum of the Future, blending elegance and cultural significance.
Fatma Bouchiba’s designs have made a remarkable impact on the Emirati scene, and her creations have graced the runway at several editions of DIAFA. Known for her exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail, Fatma’s work has been a defining presence at the festival, with her creations becoming synonymous with sophistication and style.
From the pinnacle of one of the most iconic buildings in the Middle East, the prestigious Jumeirah Emirates Towers, personalities from all around the globe— actors, singers and advocates —gathered for an evening of recognition and celebration. This event was not just about honoring achievements; it was also a reunion in a world of unity, offering a solemn moment of solidarity and humanity that reminded guests of their shared values.
This DIAFA edition held a special place as it shone a spotlight on the legendary icon of modern literature and poetry, Nizar Qabbani. On a night where words intertwined with souls and poems found a home in hearts, his legacy as the poet of love and the magnifier of women’s beauty and spirit was honored.
A theme that perfectly aligned with the creative world of Fatma Bouchiba, who shared her design process alongside her colleagues, Mayssa Assaf and Maggie Samaan. Mayssa delicately guided Fatma into revealing her approach as a creator, a process Fatma described as deeply personal and indispensable. She explained that creating a dress begins with a thorough exploration of the client’s character and personality. By attuning herself to these details, she custom-crafts a unique universe that reflects the client’s essence.
Fatma Bouchiba, as well as her colleagues, played a crucial role as a judge in selecting the winners of the Best Dress and Best Tuxedo awards. This committee admitted that selecting winners was no easy feat, as every guest ensured they were dressed to impress for this 8th edition.
Ultimately, the Best Dress award was presented to Tina Yammout for her breathtaking white gown and ethereal headpiece, a look inspired by Fairuz’s 1977 theatrical performance and the artistry of Sabah. This ensemble, a true ode to beauty and art, captivated everyone in attendance. Meanwhile, the Best Tuxedo award was given to Noueddien Youssef, who not only showcased impeccable style but also used the moment to deliver a heartfelt message of peace, further embodying the evening’s spirit.
As an ending note, the 8th Edition of DIAFA transcended its role as an awards ceremony, becoming a celebration of creativity, poetry, and shared humanity. The event reaffirmed its significance as a cultural milestone, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.
